Numbers behind Gallup poll on creationism vs evolutionNumbers behind Gallup poll on creationism vs evolution

(4:44) Bible trumps science in Gallup poll between creationism and evolution. The question was phrased as such: "Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin and development of human beings - 1. Human beings have developed over millions of years from less developed forms of life, but God guided this process. 2. Human beings have developed over millions of years from less developed forms of life, but God had no part in this process. 3. God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so." Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks discuss the results.

I wonder if the general cynicism of modern culture has worked against the cause of rational thought. Conspiracy theories, cries of 'FAKE!' and desktop CGI may lead us to doubt the veracity of any claim, no matter how well-argued or supported. I would be very interested to see a correlational study between those who believe the fossil record has been falsified and those who believe global warming is a hoax. The above poll may not show an issue of belief per se, but rather one of dis-belief.

Eloquently put. The result still terrifies me though. Proof, if it was ever needed, that America, as a nation, is stupid!

The depressing thing about this article is the closed minds of the presenters. They taotally misrepresent what Creation Scientists understand as the truth, and believe the just-so stories pushed down their throats by a small number of atheists. My guess would be that if you asked 'Do you believe in God?' the figures would pretty much match up.
