Skateboarder Chris Cole perfects his craftSkateboarder Chris Cole perfects his craft

(4:06) Before each win, there are a zillion fails, or words to that effect. This adage rings true in almost every aspect of life.

New found respect for skateboarders. With all the edited videos that lack the fails, these tricks start to look easy, you forget how much persistence/determination they require.

Have the courage to fail, and then fail again. When I occasionally watch the various fail video collections with my daughter, I always try to point out how those who try, and fail, are much more worthy of respect, than those who dare not even try. ..and then we go and practice something difficult.. and fail initially... ;-)

Latest comment: Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. He eventually got different results but it's still insanity.

I skate myself and you'd be amazedhow restricting on your movements wearing elbow and knee pads are, however in a pool vert ramp people do tend to wear knee pads because if you slam you can just knee slide out. Helmets are basically never worn outside vert ramps and pools. street skating is all about the feeling of freedom, hence, no-one wears pads..

I think he hit his head at least twice...

Two points: 1. He knows how to fall correctly. Guess the first thing you should learn before learning to skateboard is to learn how to fall without breaking anything. 2. Skill for me doesn't mean getting a trick right 1 out of a 100 times. It means practicing endlessly, so then you can get it right every time.

Well, that was a useful lesson for me today. Sometimes you have to just keep trying despite the bumps. Thanks for the video.

One of the most amazing things i've seen in skateboarding. Reminds me of Mike Vallely.

This young man will go as far in life as he chooses; he possesses a rare combination of physical courage, persistence, and intelligence. A day brightener. Thank you.
