(9:45) Atheists counter the common religious claim that life without god (therefore without an afterlife) is meaningless and empty.

Where would heaven be if a rogue black hole passed by and gobbled up our sun and the whole of humanity in one almighty gulp? Would heaven also be gobbled up, or is it immune to black holes?

No, numbnuts, those are "the heavens". There's a difference between everything outside the atmosphere of our tiny planet and some fictitious invisible realm where the deluded believe their souls will abide for eternity.

Nice to know it's not just Christians who can come up with this maudlin rubbish. It's the sort of overly sentimental twaddle that makes me want to throw up.

We can no more prove that there is nothing after death than we can prove there is something. God is only one meaningless explanation for life after death. We will know or not know once we die. There is no way to prove an afterlife.. It does not prove that there is nothing either..Imagine trying to explain to someone 200 years ago that in 2010 we would have a black president that every human being on the planet could watch his inaugaration as it actually happened all over the planet. You would end up being burned as a witchJust because it is outside our puny frame of reference does not prove that something does not and can not exist.

Looking for more evidence that contemporary fundamentalist atheists are no different from their religious fundamentalist counterparts? Watch the video with sound off. Same bullshit. "Isn't the universe grand, therefore we must believe/not believe and vilify everyone who disagrees..."

Fundamental Atheists? Are you serious? To understand your universe and matter within is not religion. It is fact. Religion is based on fear and faith and ignorance. It is for people who do not have the intellectual capacity for truth, so find comfort in sadistic fairy tales.

Steve-o, since you sound just as vicious and intolerant as your religious-fundamentalist partners, try this on for size: "Religious Fundamentalists? Are you serious? To understand your universe and matter within is not science. It is faith. Science is based on fear and ignorance. It is for people who do not have the intellectual capacity for truth, so find comfort in sadistic fairy tales..." Same story, different tune.

rogerrabit, you just proved steve-o right. When you swap the words around as you did, it makes no sense. Every statement is simply wrong. Own goal I think.

I see what you mean, but you are missing the irony where the voiceover and the subtitles are intentionally dissonant.

Why are we worrying about the afterlife lets worry about the life we have and let the next life take care of itself. Afterlife is not something we can never know till it happens

Because what you think about the afterlife affects how you live your life. If you believe there is a better world called Heaven waiting with open arms for you to die, but only if you believe it exists, otherwise your fate is a worse place called Hell, then your belief will affect the choices you make in this life. If you believe this life is it, then you'll live accordingly.
