Hug an atheist

Hug an atheist

(3:37) In a country founded on the freedom of religion, by people escaping religious persecution in Europe, it's shocking that American atheists get such a hard time.

Atheists are convenient replacements for the millions of heretics, witches, jews and other groups blamed in the past when the frustration of getting ahead economically was hampered by excessive concentration of wealth. Once Ryan and the Tea Party get their way, thousands more petty millionaires will be joining the ranks of the economically disenfranchised.

Good point. Religious leaders have found through history that nothing brings people together under your wing faster than hatred directed toward someone who threatens your fantasy. All the cowards flock to you in order to avoid being the outcast, and the shared hatred forms a strong bond between those in your organisation. Just look at the Scientologists to see this illustrated - actually - look at any religion. Loving God? for a loving god it is astonishing how much bloodshed and suffering it has caused and still causes...

Said it before, and I'll say it again. "When you understand why you reject all other religions apart from your own, you will understand why I reject all of them"

There's a ward in most American hospitals specifically for Atheists - The new Born Baby Ward... How come they don't hate these non-believers? Religion: best source of irony ever.

I am all for hugging atheists, but then I'm also for hugging gays, and Christians and Muslims too.

I had little idea that America was quite this sick and backward. The Stone Age is alive and well in North America.

When I was in America recently I couldn't believe the pressure that is put on atheists. There seems to be a view perpetrated in the media that if you are not part of an organized religion then you must be without philosophy, ethics, and morals. After all, who could possibly do anything good without being told to by an ancient book?

As an atheist, I don't care which deity you worship and I don't condemn you for it, either. What makes it right that I should be criticised/condemned/revi led/hated for not wanting to do the same as you?
