How to think about gravityHow to think about gravity

(4:44) Did you know that when you fall down, the Earth falls up to meet you? Educator Jon Bergmann explains a better (and more accurate) way to visualise gravity rather than simply "what goes up, must come down".

gravity is faster than the speed of light. I get the impression that this effectively contradicts the "standard model".

Gravity is not faster than the speed of light. Someone once postulated that if the sun suddenly disappeared, the earth would continue to orbit where it used to be for about 8 minutes before flying out of orbit.

The discussion about dropping a rock off a cliff was interesting. I did that and the rock kept hitting the cliff wall. The cliff also has gravity and it, and the rock, are attracted to each other. So, simply dropping it off the cliff is a sure way of having it hit the cliff. I've been on such high cliffs that you can throw the rock pretty far and it still comes back toward the cliff before it hits the water below.

Latest comment: I guess that explains why, when the Wile E. Coyote drops an anvil from a cliff, it never hits the Roadrunner. Now, I can move on with my life.
