Good luck with that plan. The USA is a military machine. Our budget is entirely dominated by it. No one likes to talk about it because immediately everyone starts yelling 'anti-American!' because 'how dare you not support the troops.' I can't imagine it changing because the people getting rich (Haliburton, etc..) off of it ARE VERY invested in keeping it that way.

Latest comment: So let's assume this plan was put into place and all those troops were brought back home. Don't they still receive a salary? So what is the cost savings there? Does the military then fire them because they are no longer needed? That would seem to reduce expenses but wouldn't that just increase the demand for new public sector jobs which currently doesn't have enough supply? I don't know what the answer is but I'm at least willing to look at all the options.
