Blowback: The unintended consequences of foreign operationsBlowback: The unintended consequences of foreign operations

(7:46) When the American public doesn't know about secret American foreign policy, it asks the question: "Why do they hate us?". In 2007, Ron Paul used the term "blowback" and claimed it was US foreign policy that created the hostility that eventually led to 9/11. Not what an American politician is supposed to say.

Guest 122, It's not simply about been 'powerful' , It's about mis-use of that power...The British empire has a long list of atrocities behind it too...To stay powerful a nation needs massive resources, they have to be taken, whether it's land, money, people(slavery).....I guess China and the US will butt heads eventually when resources run thin..Anyway, we should strive for a more moral world, but human nature has a lot to explain how 'Empires' have acted to date.

Latest comment: Wonderfull article.I never knew of this man but I will read more of him..You must realise that American companies who produce weapons and support systems for wars are very powerfull and thru lobbing and financial support to the Republican party almost dominate the USA foreign policy. Capitalism not democracy rules America.

Amen! Republicans have shunned him--not even allowing him to address the convention. This is why republicans are losing what should be an easy election to win.

That's a good idea, but not very realistic, as senator Paul would more than likely be assassinated during the first half of his first term... Just look at JFK he went against the powers that be...

Dear UK boreme fans, know this: they hate us (the U.S.) because we are powerful. When you were powerful, they hated you too. Now you hate us. When China becomes no.1, we will hate it together. It is as things should be.
