Christianity is not a religion? I thought it was - looking on the web everyone else thinks so too. Is this more Fox misinformation?

Steve-o, your appeal to what everybody on the web thinks does little to support your argument. Populist opinion hardly makes a thing so.

It was a genuine question - the first thing I did was surf around a bit to find out what the general concensus was. Of course you can make this as confrontational as you like, but it would be nice to actually know what the truth is.

It wasn't my intention to be confrontational, and I agree that it would be nice to know what truth is. Equally, I would agree that Christianity is widely considered a religion. I am just recommending caution in using the opinions of people on the internet to determine veracity, since the thinking of the majority often bears little resemblance to truth.

Totally agree to be sceptical and cautious - I wasn't clear about what sources I checked - they included BBC, Wikipedia, theologicalstudies.org, hmrc.gov.uk and a multitude of others. I couldn't find anything that catagorically states Christianity is a philosophy, and certainly the government seems to view it as a religion hence tax exemption.

I'll repeat the point I have made before on here. That Bill O'Reilly is not fit to have a TV show because he cannot and will not brook any point of view but his own and thinks he speaks for a lot of people. All he does, in fact, is make himself look as ridiculous as he does in this clip.

Interestingly, I have never seen one of Bill O'Reilly's shows until the other day I was at the Gym and they just happend to have this channel on when I was in the locker room. This is the exact video that was playing live. I realized right there that this guy is a complete idiot. Unbelievable that he somehow believes there is equality when it's clear the government is taking sides because they are promoting a holiday that Christians have come to believe is the birthdate of their savior (it's not correct but that's what some of them believe). It is true that we cannot go to the bank or post office on Christmas because it is a federal holiday. I agree with that Atheist guy that Christmas should be revoked as a federal holiday.

When David Silverman gets invited on to Fox News to expand on his atheist position regarding Christianity and Christ-mass in particular - one would expect that he would be able to get to the end of at least one sentence without being shouted down by the host. Respect to to David Silverman for not caving in and looking like a douch-bag like O'Reilly. I can't help but wonder if a Jehovah Witness would be met with this level of bile - In some Islamic countries, apostasy is a capital offence - nothing more threatening than an idea that kicks the legs out from under your cherished beliefs, and if your beliefs are water-tight, then why get upset with someone who urinates all over them.

This is a common thing with O`Reilly. He invites people to debate controversial topics and then yells them down like a juvenile if he does not agree with what they believe. This is especially notable with people who do not share his views on religion. I do not know why Fox keeps him or why anyone bothers to be a gueat on his show.
