the problem is that people like this will kill perfectly normal people...

Guest:  (124 days ago)
I'm not sure, contending that nitwits tend to attract one another.

Guest: ignorance is the problem (124 days ago)
treat every weapon as if it were loaded. never point your weapon at anything you don't intend to shoot. keep your finger strait an off the trigger until you intend to fire. keep your weapon on safe until you intend to fire. know your target and what lies behind it.

Very nice. I would add one more thing: Remember the most dangerous firearm is one that is 'unloaded'.

These folks are better targets than shooters. Culling the herd comes to mind.

The gun is a tool like any other, accidents happen. Just look at the car, far more car accidents than gun accidents and I'd guess far more deaths and injuries...

Guest: Onions (119 days ago)
Err? Cars are kind of needed to travel around in???

cengland0 cengland0 (119 days ago)
And guns are needed to protect yourself, hunt, and form a militia to overthrow the government if necessary. So what was your point? Cars are necessary and guns are not?

actually in some states, Guns kill more than cars... (2009 numbers) Alaska: 104 gun deaths, 84 motor vehicle deaths Arizona: 856 gun deaths, 809 motor vehicle deaths Colorado: 583 gun deaths, 565 motor vehicle deaths Indiana: 735 gun deaths, 715 motor vehicle deaths Michigan: 1,095 gun deaths, 977 motor vehicle deaths Nevada: 406 gun deaths, 255 motor vehicle deaths Oregon: 417 gun deaths, 394 motor vehicle deaths Utah: 260 gun deaths, 256 motor vehicle deaths Virginia: 836 gun deaths, 827 motor vehicle deaths Washington: 623 gun deaths, 580 motor vehicle deaths

You have hand-picked particular data elements to support your position but the fact is when you sum up all the gun murders, there are more deaths caused by cars. There were 33,687 car deaths and 31,672 gun deaths link ; however, that includes suicide which should be excluded from those statistics so you should be including gun homicides only which is 11,078 link The source is the official government agency CDC on causes of deaths in the US. People use guns to commit suicide because it's the fastest and easiest way. If the gun was not available, they would just jump off a bridge or take an overdose of drugs. Poisoning is 42,917 deaths per year.

Latest comment: Talk about "hand picking your data" lol. It is obvious you never took a rhetoric class in school... but I had assumed you had taken a statistics class.

Guest: Stupid comparison (123 days ago)
Except a Car isn't made specifically to kill.

Guest:  (123 days ago)
And also think about how often cars are used in comparison.

Guest: Casey (122 days ago)
You make my point, a car isn't made to kill , but it does and many more times than a gun. As for how often they are used, just look at how many are maimed and killed by cars, far more than guns . The fact that they may be used more or lees than guns is not the point!

Guest:  (121 days ago)
Failed your statistics course did you Casey?

Guest: Dumb American (122 days ago)
What is your point. Other than a show of ignorance?

Guest: AlanC (122 days ago)
Am I right in that anyone can own a gun but you have to past a test to drive a car? Do know because I'm not American.

Not everyone is allowed to own a gun. There are many restrictions. Refer to page 225 of this government document in PDF format link
