I had to state the obvious because there are some stupid guests on Boreme that might not have figured it out on their own. :)

I do worry how much free time you have on your hands. You say you're a banker? When do you actually work? Unless you're a merchant banker, that would make a lot of sense.

But you see, you don't know what job I have in the bank and you do not know what my working hours are. You might think that all bankers work from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but then you'd be wrong. Also, have you ever heard of the word "multitasking"? Computers do it so why can't I?

People don't "multi-task" they "task-switch". For the vast majority that means the performance of at least one of the tasks degrades. Much more effective is to focus on one task, complete it - then focus on the next.

You can eat and watch TV at the same time. True that most people cannot do two things at one time but some excel at it. Besides, I think the term multi-tasking really means task-switching anyway. Even in the computer field, you cannot have a single computer (regardless of how many cores) do two things at once. There is one memory bank and you will find that one processor cannot write to one segment of memory while another processor is reading from another. Computers and some people (like me) are just good at task-switching so it gives the impression you're doing two things at one time. Technically I still believe people can truly multitask. I'm reading this message while typing it. That's both input and output simultaneously. I can drink a cup of coffee while reading my emails without any negative impact to either.

Make your mind up. You say "Computers do it so why can't I?" Then you say "Even in the computer field, you cannot have a single computer (regardless of how many cores) do two things at once."

Latest comment: Didn't you read where I stated that multi-tasking really means task-switching anyway? If you ask random people what multi-tasking means, they will tell you it's doing two things at once even if it's technically task-switching. In my opinion, you're talking about the same thing in general. True multitasking is doing two different things exactly at the same time. I can ride a bike and listen to music at the same time. I can be on a conference call while generating reports. I can use the bathroom while reading a book. Now tell me those are not real multitasking. Task switching is while I'm waiting for a file to finish uploading to the server, I am on boreme typing this message. I can do both multi-tasking and task-switching. Even things like talking on the phone and driving a car is multi-tasking but you're not doing both at their optimum performance levels.

You mean you're not confident that I can perform my duties as a banker efficiently? My performance reviews and bonuses would show that I'm not only efficient but exceed in this area of expertise.
