He speaks from a standpoint of experience, having been a police officer for 20 years. He has seen that the astounding sum of money piled into the 'war on drugs' has been utterly wasted. He understands that and makes his reasoning very clear, yet you insist on being a dick and, from the look of your post, a semi-literate one at that.

Very good idea. Legalize drugs, so that more people can kill their brain and do more shootings

Great job, Peter. Sadly, the people who make a great deal of money from leaving things the way they are won't be in favor of legalizing drugs. Those people are also the ones who are in charge of the country and if it isn't financially beneficial to them, it won't happen.

There will be a drugs market, no question about it. The only question is what kind of market it will be.

One run by gangsters, peddling unknown substances and using the profits to fund terrorism, while your citizns are hounded by the law and have their lives destroyed by the law - not by the actual drugs - and you pay for this with taxes.

Or one like the alcohol industry, where licensed producers turn out products on known quality, subect to inspection, regulated and taxed, you can buy your hit in the supermarket and know that you are not causing anyone any harm? And the taxes raised and the reduced spend on the drugs "war" go to reducing the national debt and to making the world a bit safer for everyone.

It's a no-brainer. Unfortunately it's not a no-spiner and that's where the politicians get stuck.
