A good video, but a bit confusing how it describes the calorie. A calorie is indeed the amount of energy required to heat a gram of water by 1 deg C. However, this is such a small unit of energy, that it is not very useful. Therefore, when dieticians refer to the Calorie, they actually mean a kcal or 1000 calories. i.e. a Calorie is the amount of energy required to heat up 1kg of water by 1 deg C. The 200 Calories constantly referred to, could therefore heat up 200kg of water by 1 deg C, not 200g. LINK
