This isn't very sensible. Almost all of what's in the phone is screen and battery (both of which wear out). The rest is essentially a system-on-a-chip, which is tiny. Furthermore, the interfaces between parts don't remain consistent, and the mechanical design would greatly add to the weight and bulk - and cost.

Latest comment: This is a great idea, I love it. A kind of lego (tm) phone, This moves away from SOC to multi SOC and solves both problems of obsolescence and easy repair / upgrade. If I had this phone right now I would replace th e screen with an extra battery and use it to record extended video, then replace the camera with a projector module and watch what I had recorded, then I would remove the battery and plug it into the car dashboard and customise my instrument cluster, the possibilities are endless!!!
