Shocking. If this was China or some other Communist regime we would all be shouting from the roof tops how can this be happening, send in the troops to give these demonstrators the democracy they deserve. But its AMERICA. Democracy does not exist, it's an illusion.

I refer you to the late George Carlin who stated, years ago, that democracy in America is an illusion. Find his comments on You Tube, they are more than a little prophetic.

What does that have to do with arresting people? Democracy is how laws get passed by the people's vote. America is not a democracy and we have never stated it was. We are a representative republic. Freedom is independent from democracy. They do not have anything to do with each other.

"America is great"? You really think so? Sorry to say that the chest thumping and flag waving by people like you only makes your once great country seem sad and pathetic. America isn't a democracy and it sure isn't free, as the video shows.

Yes, America is great. You do not know how good we have it here and only complain about our gun laws and our rich billionaires because you're jealous of what we have here. I know we are not a democracy and our constitution never says we are. Regarding freedom, what is your definition of free? Do you think we should be free to break any law we want? Is that what you think it is to be free?

When your own police (you know, the people who 'Protect and Serve'?) are shown to target innocent individuals taking part in a peaceful, legal protest just to intimidate the remainder of the protesters, something is wrong. Nobody mentioned guns (except you) or billionaires (except you) because they are irrelevant to this subject.

The police did tell them which law they were breaking and gave them several opportunities to correct their behavior before arresting people. The people that were arrested probably violated the law but we don't know if those charges were dropped or not. The video did not mention it. I have no sympathy for those people that do not obey the law and then cry when they get arrested for breaking it especially when given a warning via megaphone several times

You are the worst kind of apologist. Trying to validate your somewhat sketchy opinion and excuse the police tactics by saying 'Well, the people who got arrested must have done something wrong'. Did you actually watch the video? The warnings were to move along the sidewalk and keep off the road. Due to the volume of people protesting it was difficult, almost impossible, for all the protestors to comply, try as they might - so why did the police cherry pick people who were against the building line? Why did they not pursue the one man who evaded them, if he was a genuine suspect? Why did the police force one man to the ground, then detain/arrest the people who came to help him? And if you intend to keep using the 'we don't know this or that' method, why don't you also say that you have no idea what the police were told about how to break up such a threatening protest or what they were told to arrest and charge these dangerous people for? I have no sympathy for law breakers either. For the record, I was a Metropolitan police officer. What I saw on this video was a calculated show of force and threat of further (mass) arrests from the NYPD aimed at intimidating lawful, peaceful protesters who were doing nothing wrong. That right, YOUR right, to protest is now under question because the people who felt threatened by this very protest ordered their (apparently soon-to-be) private security guards, the police, to break it up. Land of the free? I think not.

Oh Lordy, the 'Land of the Free' sure is getting scary these days. The illusion of freedom over there is starting to look a little wobbly.

Latest comment: Sounds good to me. Protesting is one think, disrupting people who have no interest is another thing... Agitators and stirrers are always singled out...
