This is actually a brilliant question. Someone more academically minded would ask:'Is consciousness solely formed by neuronal connections or is there a form of information processing that lies above the neuronal connections themselves?'. Given that consciousness is an emergent property of neuronal signalling, I would say that there is constant feedback between the physical connections of our brain and our consciousness.
