Found some socialist, marxist, communist, lazy, handout, welfare links about detroit and how it came to be... if some libertarians might want a less than simplistic view of the worl. I'm sure there are more links like these:

1 : LINK

2: LINK

Now i've been told that some links might not work and might get corrupted with some sort of PORN scam or whatever and that is why i'll also mention that the first link leads to an article called ""25-facts-abou t-the-fall-of-detroit-tha t-will-leave-you-shaking- your-head"" by theeconomiccollapseblog dot com.

The other one is called ""The Decline and Fall of Detroit"" by nakedcapitalism dot com

goodness me sat, detroit went bust because as thatcher famously predicted they ran out of other peoples money. This is because because they made cars they couldn't sell, no one would buy them. They prefer european cars, which were more modern and far better quality. and that my my friend is at least partially the fault of the unions. You see sat, the unions under the guise of "protecting peoples job" tend to be very resistant to modernisation, they dont like change. This leads to the situation of companies with unresponsive unions being out competed by everybody else, ultimately the the jobs will be lost because the companies havent got an endless source of money and will eventually go bankrupt .Its kind of a no win situation. I should add that people who work in government related jobs (eg teachers) dont actually appreciate this because they are insulated from the bottom line of where their salaries actually come from (working peoples taxes).Invariably they just assume that their salaries and pensions are guaranteed for life, because they think governments are a bottomless pit of money.

I believe that the links i posted say partially the same thing you just said but without the right wing libertarian spin on it.

Here's a report on a report (LOL) LINK about detroit and other things, but i must warn you, even though it's almost the same thing you said, it has a left wing spin on it. You will find terms as Financialization, deindustrialization and so on.

The link above (from a website called wsws dot org, standing for world socialist website [LOL]) also includes 4 more links to 4 different reports. The article is called... wait for it...

""The rape of Detroit: Deindustrialization, financialization and parasitism""

Now leave the teachers out of it you spitefull propagandist.

But teachers are the worst. Think about it sat, Except for a couple of summers doing bar work or something similar during uni, most will have been in school or uni their whole life, its a very cloistered enviroment. Unfortunately politicians are also the same, Most have never had a "real" job in their life.

This is not representative of all USA cities. In fact, it's far from it. Many are expanding and improving.

After WW2, Detroit's manufacturing sector leveled off so people started to leave the city to get work elsewhere. Then the city had to make up their lost revenue by increasing taxes. They have the highest tax rate in the state. This caused more people to leave. Companies and people just kept leaving, abandoning houses and businesses.

To top it all off, the city kept hiring workers even while the citizens were leaving. At the end of 2001, the city had over 18,000 workers which is about 1 worker for every 51 residents. Today it's 1 employee for every 73 residents but by then the damage has been done and pensions are due.

Thats the problem with people and business, They wont willingly stand still and be taxed into oblivion for the good of the state. They have a nasty habit of wandering off and seeking a better life for themselves and their families. They are backward and naughty and the only solution is to build a big wall around them so they stay put.

Except for the UK. Those people enjoy being taxed to death.

We just celebrated our independence from England a couple days ago. That revolutionary war was mainly fought over taxation.

Happens in the uk also, tax earners leave , and theres a queue at calais to get in for your freebies,. Listen to the squeals from labour and the bbc, if anybody suggests this might be wrong and suggest changing the criteria on who gets benefits, (ie to those who have earned it by paying into the system ), although the last local elections suggests the worms are turning.

I didn't know so many people were leaving the UK and queuing up at Calais. I googled it and it's confirmed. The French police are having trouble handling all those people.

The irony here is it's just like the Mexicans trying to get into the USA illegally. Now you have UK citizens illegally trying to get into France.

You have this the wrong way round. UK citizens have the right to live in France (or any other EU country). It's illegal migrants queuing in Calais.

You also have it wrong about the US war of independence. That was started by terrorists who wanted to impose their own laws on the local inhabitants. They were a bit like ISIS.

Sorry cengland i meant they are queing up the other way around (illegals). The other european countries thend to have more robust laws about who can claim, basically you have to been employed and have paid tax for a number of years. Our system is far too soft

Whoops, I misread that. It clearly said "UK-bound migrants". So why does everyone want to go to the UK? Why don't they stay in France?

Why do you think so many apeople travel from so far away and risk their lives (riding under trucks, in selaed containers etc.) to get into the UK? It's worth their risk, even if they are found and sent out of the country, they just try again. Does that answer your question?

Illegal immigration is a problem for the USA too. However, when we catch someone, we send them back. We are currently experiencing a problem with some undocumented people that have been in the country for several decades and what to do with those people. Some were even born here but to illegal aliens.

Then we have issues with some states having different policies than the federal policy so it's unclear what to do in those situations. And when children without parents come over, what do we do with them? If we send them back, it will be without parents to take care of them so they might not survive and it makes returning some of these immigrants very difficult.

Guantanamo is not part of our country so I'm not sure why you're bringing that up. We don't store illegal immigrants there.
