While everyone is focused on Gaza, the settlers in the West Bank steal more occupied Palestinian land.

Jon Snow says those who live in Gaza are unbelievably young. That's because very few make it to middle age.

The death and wounded of civilians in Gaza is sad and unfortunate, however it is Hamas to blame first for starting this conflict by firing missiles at civilians in Israel and then by placing rocket launchers amongst civilian population, schools and hospitals with intent of amassing casualties so they can cry to the world, that is twisted and evil and with disregard to human life and the safety of their own people

So the Palestinians should just accept the fact that their land has been taken, accept the fact of illegal settlements, accept that they have been packed into a ghetto behind an "iron-curtain" reminiscent of the cold war, accept the constraints on their crossing, feel happy their economy has been wrecked, accept they have no control of their airspace or seashore, accept the drone strikes on their leaders?

Should they do nothing when kids playing football on the beach are shelled, when refugees in UN-designated shelters are bombed, when the only power plant is deliberately targetted?

If this asymmetry were the other way round, if it were Israeli territory being annexed illegally, an Israeli ghetto being bombed back to the stone age, Israeli civilian casualties stacking up at the rate of 25-1 but they pluckily showed their defiance with some pathetic rocket attacks that they knew were going to be shot down anyway before reaching their target - if this were the other way round, the west would be up in arms and putting pressure on the Palestinians to stop.

But it's not - and Israel continues to get away with its bullying, territorial expansion and murder.

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2009 uprooting their settlements there leaving behind millions of dollars worth of agriculture infrastructure and other businesses, and instead of destroying them they handed them over to help their economy, but instead of cultivating that, they raided all the equipment and destroyed it. There are billions of dollars pouring into Gaza from the US and Europe but instead of using that money to grow the economy and the welfare of the people its used to fund missiles and terror tunnels, Gaza could have turned to the Singapore of the middleast but it didn’t, why? because they are set on the distraction of israel and the Jews and they openly say so.

I wouldn't call over 2000 rockets pathetic, shot purely with the intent of killing innocent women and children, the fact that there aren't many civilian casualties is because israel does its best to defend its people. Just imagine rockets fired at London.. what would Britain do? what did they do in WW2?

How many Israelis have been killed by those 2000 rockets? Seems to be about 35 from rockets and mortars over the last 10 years. How many Palestinians this year alone? Around 1,300 . And the Israelis continue to bleat on about "terrorist rockets".

What did Britain do in WW2? We and the Allies (most notably Russia) were fighting a symmetric war - so your analogy is poor.

A better one is the IRA campaign where the civilian death toll was probably around 650 throughout the whole campaign. And what did Britain not do? It didn't impose a ghetto, it didn't engage in wholesale slaughter, it didn't raze areas to the ground, it didn't use heavy artillery on civilian areas, it didn't deliberately shell women and children who were praying that UN designated shelters would provide them with safety.

Yes, the British response to the IRA was pretty nasty in some cases and neither side really covered itself in glory - but ultimately they worked out a political solution so we are now on good terms with our neighbours.

Another example of a measured response: 52 people were killed and 700 injured in the London underground bombings of 2005. Now go search the internet and see if you can find how many people were slaughtered in retaliation.

There seems to be a lot of worry about being accused of anti-semitism - but this is nothing to do with being jewish or not, arab (who are also semites) or not. It's about recognising Israel as an aggressive, land-grabbing, expansionist state that is wittering on about "terrorist rockets" as an excuse to further its criminal foreign policy.

Britain didn't resort to bombing innocent Irish people in retaliation to the IRA terrorist bombings in London. Fortunately they held some kind of moral high ground and eventually withdrew once they recognised the injustices that they had inflicted on the Irish population. The whole world knows Israel is a fascist bully state that uses the firing of rockets to further their cause. The world doesn't fall for the poor victim story every time.

No, because the English government had absolutely nothing to do with the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, and the English intelligence forces knew nothing of the attack weeks before it happened. Oh, nooooo. Nothing like that at all. Yep, once the English realised that hundreds of years of slavery, murder and control were wrong, they packed up and withdrew their occupation of the isle of Ireland. Oh, what's that, they're still here. Hogswash is a rife. The English puppeteered the UVF, DUP and others and let their fingers do the dirty work on the ground. At least it was smarter and killed less innocent people, but don't paint the English as some sort of moral standard.
