I think it's inevitable we will geoengineer the climate because we won't be able to reduce fossil fuel usage before it runs out. There's just too much money underground waiting to be burnt.

Scientists say we need to keep 80% of the remaining fossil fuels underground, if we are to stand a fighting chance in stabilising the climate. And there's no chance of that happening as far as I can see. Canadian tar sands alone will take us over the threshold.

The next battle will be how to keep control of our climate out of the hands of greedy corporations.

Walter arrives to present some unsustaniated lunacy yet again. I vote we carry on using as much oil and gas and fossel fuels as possible to keep warm in these winters to come. If walter wants to go renewables i suggest he votes with his feet and cuts himself off entirely from fossel fuels. We can check up on him to see how he is doing (bury his body)

I already stated that WalterEgo is a hypocrite because he’s the one that keeps saying that we should stop using fossil fuels but he is still using them.

I'm not sure you realise the significance of this TEDtalk. Before I saw this, I was of the view that we were doomed because there was no chance of the world getting together to reduce emissions fast enough to prevent runaway global warming - and once that started, Earth would become Venus 2.

But this changes everything, because we now have an emergency brake that we know will work, at least in terms of controlling the temperature of the planet. Geoengineering the climate and NOT reducing emissions will cause huge problems (like acidification of the oceans and pollution), but they are not as dramatic as storms, droughts and cities underwater. As David Keith put it: "Knowledge that geoengineering is possible - >> Climate impacts look less fearsome - >> A weaker commitment to cutting emissions now. (13:40)"

So before, I thought Venus 2 was our future, but now we have a lifeline. We can move towards a world where energy is 100% clean, sustainable and cheap (so we can use as much as we need - very important in stabilising the population), and geoengineer the climate so we can grow organic food for everybody, and live happily ever after in peace and tranquility. Or we can stabilise the climate, continue to burn fossil fuels, choking up the atmosphere while the oceans slowly die. We'd still be warring over oil, while the Koch brothers pass their trillions down to their kids to continue eeking every drop of oil still left untapped.

Interesting this lecture was in 2007.

we need to burn all the fossil fuels if enough plants are to grow in vertical acquaponic hi tech factories/farms of thd future in order to feed the worlds growing population.

The electric transortation problem stands with the storage capacity. The technology for extremly high storeage capacity exists and has existed for a long time, but it would seriously threaten the current financial system that makes our civilisation possible (loans, banks, world banks, corporations, government, legislation, ensurances, fractional reserve banking, etc), and on top of that, it can enable the existence of cheap and reliable COIL GUNS that can and will pose a serious threat to human civilisation. These are know facts, but it's not public knowledge. There are institutions out there that have a lot of geniuses play imaginary geopoplitical games to figure out what the best course of action is for the future of humanity and the avoidance of the nuclear WW3.

The banker-iluminaty-jews-liz ard-people who rule us all have it all figured out, have some faith in their wisdom, lol.
