Artificial skylight is the window of the future

Artificial skylight is the window of the future

(5:08) It looks like the sun, but it isn't. It's an artificial skylight called CoeLux which recreates the scientific process that makes the sky look blue. Perfect for underground or basement living.

"You can't build a skyscraper without a lift."

True, but more specifically, the invention of the lift was possible following the invention of the revolving door.

Just sayin'.

Technically false. You could create a skyscraper without a lift but everyone would have to use the stairs and it would be inconvenient so nobody would be willing to occupy the top floors and therefore nobody willing to build that kind of skyscraper.

Solid walls and a skylight makes me think of a medieval prison. It may improve the light situation, but having no windows is always going to lead to a feeling of being enclosed.

How many watts per lumen do you get compared to a cree led bulb that can also provide daylight colors? Is it worth paying extra in electrical costs?

I suspect this skylight is not as efficient but would like to know if anyone has the facts about it.

I did some more research and found this quote from the company. Clearly it's too expensive, too inefficient, and requires too much space.

“The void height needed is a metre. It consumes 340W of electrical power, but that will come down as LEDs improve… CoeLux is at the beginning of its commercial journey, and that’s reflected in the current cost. It’ll set you back £40,000 from the factory gate, and another £3,000 to £5,000 for shipping and specialist installation. But the interest is already there, particularly for high-value underground installations”

Not sure where you're getting that from. I always discuss energy and global warming related things and attempt to avoid political issues. Although I do agree with a lot that CenglandO beleved in but I rarely state my political opinions.

Yet unlike the vast majority of cengland0's posts, guest123456789's post is interesting, valid and informative. Your post however is neither interesting nor informative - and probably not valid either. My post too is pointless as ffs this is the internet and no-one cares but trolls anyway
