Douglas Murray vs. the right for British women to cover their faces

(7:18) British journalist and author Douglas Murray debates if British women should wear the niqab. The niqab is a veil that covers the whole face except the eyes. The burka covers the whole body from head to feet. Full Channel 4 debate from October 2013: http://goo.gl/2lRGBZ

In the UK we have a fellow called Stephen Gough who thinks it is his right. He thinks the human body is not to be hidden away. I rspect his right to his opinion but do not share it. I would say, if he wants to be naked, let him, but I don't want to join in. "What about the children" is the cry. I don't think they are in any great danger from Stephen Gough.

The woman on Douglas Murray's right is rebellious at heart. Her niqab is not black.

That's not what I'd call a balanced audience. Douglas Murray is the only man in the studio, and only 2 women are not veiled to some degree.

I am not in favour of a general ban. But people who cover up in this way should understand that their behaviour has consequences. Women who cover up "to avoid inciting passions in men" are insulting me as a man. I feel justified in reacting accordingly.
