Rush hour in Copenhagen

Rush hour in Copenhagen

(0:24) 8am in Copenhagen at one of the busiest junctions in the city. Filmed from a bicycle shop called Larry vs Harry. According to Jim Slade, the owner, the city has no separate spandex-clad bike culture. "You don't have 'cyclists', just people riding bikes because it's the quickest, most effective method of transport". larryvsharry.com

Good for them! The city is as flat as a pancake which helps. I wonder what the average length of commute is? Is this the same scene in January?

I commune about 5-6km. The amount of bikes varies with weather of course, but there are still a good bunch of people biking even when it's raining.

Unfortunately in the UK we have the Daily Mail and Jeremy Clarkson who have made it acceptable to vilify cycling. Common misconceptions like road tax help car drivers think they own the road.

Cycling in the UK is not promoted and therefore we are becoming a nation of fatties to rival USA.
