Good point. He could have mentioned that Jews were in fact an accepted part of German society; part of the mainstream; and extremely influential. The reason he started hating them (or using that as a tool to galvanise) is because this was a rich stream as many ordinary Germans blamed the Jews for "sabotaging" WW1 and never forgave them. The rest of the rhetoric about them controlling money etc. were more sticks to bash them with.

The difference is that most races are not as accepted part of the American society, be it Irish, native Indians, mexicans, blacks, muslims, you name it. Trump represents a huge portion of his society who feels like that, whereas Hitler was an opportunist.
