Mother, submersed in her own thoughts, and looking right through the apparitious strangers, ruminated on her days wrestling smelly lumberjacks and gold miners. She was crystalized in her conviction to provide a better life for her Theo and Shasha.

The Russian man had promised a "worldly" - his word - vocation that would offer travel and awe to distant lands, a daily health and fitness regimen that would make them the envy of man and bear, alike. As mother had scrutinized the contract, the Russian man had lit a Cuban cigar, just like her old manager use to do. The smell wafted into her nostrils, reminding her of how savory he had tasted.

There would be no contract made that day. That day, Mother taught her Theo and Sasha a far-more valuable life lesson for bears. Be prepared to walk away, but do it on a full stomach.

The End
