School run drop off experiment

School run drop off experiment

(3:32) Location: Unionville Elementary School in Monroe, North Carolina. This was a test by the NCDOT to try and alleviate traffic backing up from the school into the highway. They wanted to utilise the extra parking area for the drop off line and not let kids get dropped off at random. This plan did not work and was reverted back to the plan that had been in place for years.

I suggest not to add useless background music to videos like this one. And if background music has to be (for what reason?), then it should be music, not acoustic rubbish like this video dares to torture us with.

From the original video description....

"[...]There are over 700 kids at this school and where would you put 700 bicycles if they could ride to school. Riding on a bike or walking is not an option because this school has kids 15 miles away. Who would let their kid ride a bike or walk 15 miles to school everyday. This is an area that is very rural and there is no way the state would ever install hundreds of miles of sidewalks that don't even lead to a town.[...]"

Why don't they just let the kids get out no matter where the parents are parked in the car park and then just let the whole car park empty at once, making people wait with cars full of children is moronic, I went to school for 16 years with thousands of other children and never once saw a traffic jam like this.

Depending on where the child is dropped off, there's a possibility they may have to cross up to 9 rows of moving vehicles.

I never saw a traffic jam for school either. I had to walk to school, through snow, up-hill both ways.

The up-hill both ways was a joke.

But I did walk to elementary school and junior high. I rode my bicycle to high school (except 9th grade which I took the bus). Then rode a moped to college and sometimes my mother's car when it was raining and she didn't need it that day.
