Could this be because governments are spending Billions subsidising solar at the expense of coal and gas, with most of it going to China. So much money thrown at it and yet once the gov money tap is turned off, the jobs will disappear.

Fossil fuels are heavily subsidised. In the UK, BP and Shell receive about £6 billion a year in subsidies, about double that of renewables. LINK

You do I owe that solar panels don't appear out of thin air, and as all solar panels damage the environment via greenhouse gasses sulphur hexafluoride and Dinitrogen trihydride, far more per KW than Coal or Gas, then the conclusions of that article is a pile of brown squidgy stuff, but we knew that in advance anyway.
