Much as I love Elon Musk, I can't help thinking he's maybe got too much on his plate.

I wasn't arguing, I was stating fact. Elon Musk's businesses never turn a profit, yet he has gotten a fortune. Only you cannot connect the dots.

What we need is a network of smaller tunnels - pipes rather than tunnels - that can route standard-sized cannisters of goods around the country. When you order something online, a robot in the warehouse puts it into a cannister, sets up the addressing, and pops it into the pipe. The pipe system reads the address and routes the cannister to the destination, which is your house. Time to deliver goods across the UK could be hours or minutes. Road and rail traffic would be greatly reduced.

What we need is teleportation - first for goods, then for people.
