Don't get into economic discussions unless you know what you're talking about.

Amazon Prime membership did not increase the yearly price. The monthly price did increase but that was to encourage people to stop using the monthly payments and to subscribe annually. So the 80 million subscribers quoted in this video probably includes more annual subscribers than monthly ones.

Amazon has been making profits from the very beginning but they showed a net loss on their income statements until recently. That's because they used the profits to reinvest into their infrastructure and build their assets. Assets are any item with economic value that is held by the company. Warehouses and merchandise purchased is an example. The fact they bought Whole Foods is also an asset. Amazon owns 115.27 billion in assets (last reported on September 30, 2017). That means, if the company was liquidated, they could get 115.27 billion for the individual pieces. But then there are profits that they make too. That drives the value of the stock up as well.

Bezos net worth is the value of his Amazon stock which he owns about 80 million shares. That's only 90% of his wealth. He aslo has cash, several multi-million dollar properties, private jet, investments in Basecamp, Juno Therapeutics, Workday, Airbnb, Uber, Google, Nash Holdings LLC, and Twitter. He is a huge investor in Blue Origin
