Atheists by nature, aren't an organized group. If they were, and spread their "word" as the other organized religions do, there would be a of creationists taking a second look at blindly following their faiths. Personaly, I wish they would anyway.

You have a misunderstanding of the word "fool" of the Bible. It doesn't mean stupid or not intelligent, it means that their beliefs are triggered by desire and not by a yearning of the truth. When you want to do what your heart desires you must decide that there is no G-d, otherwise you are held responsible for your actions. They will then use all of their brainpower proving there is no G-d. Many smart men can easily disprove their ideas but they don't let themselves see the light!

Why am I writing this when I should be doing my physics homework? David Robertson - Cool. Hollybrah- keep it up! Mathias - Define 'radical' please. This argument concerns eternity. The answer is important, so the energy used examining the issue is well spent.

If the price for not believing in god is eternal separation from god, then that's not really a major problem. For a start I'll be dead and if by some fluke I still exist then I don't get to hang out with homophobes, which is again fine by me.

I once read a quote in a book long ago, yet it still remains in my head, "We feel it neccessary to believe in a man who called himself Jesus 2000 years ago. How come then that there are possibly hundreds upon thousands of mentally ill people worldwide claiming that they are Jesus?" Unfortunately I don't know who said this, yet it is a valid point. Back in history of early England, long, long ago, around pre-medieval times, priests were the only ones who knew how to read or write. This could explain that because the parishioners were illiterate, they would believe anything that they are told to believe because the "fear of god" (as told by the priests) would keep them in line. This meant that psychologically, these people were constantly afraid of another "being" that they could not see or touch. You could parallel this with the upbringing of a small child, where the child is taught what to think by their parents because the parents are their role-models. Is this not true of people nowadays? This is all objective. It is all fact. The only parts that are subjective is the possible explanations for why people think this way today. However, you cannot argue with facts. To continue from where Wing Zero was going with his "church cover up" theory, there is an element of truth to this. When Copernicus discovered that all planets revolved around the Sun and then Galileo further backed this up, the Catholic church placed Galileo under house arrest. Why? was there something there that the church had laid down as a foundation of religion, yet restricted the spreading of this discovery to an absolute minimum? Discuss. Mr Robertson, I admire your steadfastness and unwillingness to back down. However, I find your rebuttles to other people's views rather patronising and mocking. Your constant referrals to 20th century history is merely a response in the form of, to put it lightly, "yes you may say that but this man did this and that dictator did that". Who knows what they were thinking of at the time? We can only speculate.

Mr. Robertson, your eloquence and sophomoric abilities are astounding. Fortunately, those abilities do not create a valid argument. You name infamous dictators of the 20th Century as examples of atheists starting wars. You also "excuse" the Church, which I can only assume means the Roman Catholic Church (of which I am a member). While pointing to supposed atheist dictators and excusing religious ones in the face of war, you create an implication that the wars and genocide are acts of evil only under atheist dictators. However, there are clear examples of Christian/religious acts of evil. The American extermination of Native Americans was done under "Christian" presidents and congressmen, claiming that God gave them the right to expand into Indian territory, to renege on treaties, to rape and murder. The Crusades to take back the Holy Land were directed and carried out by Christians claiming to have been ordained by God. The Reformation led to more than 100 years of religious genocide in Europe committed by all sides. Pope Pius XII, of World War II, refused to condemn Hitler's Final Solution to the Jewish Question. Even though the Church did squirrel away 600,000 Jews without Vatican support, think of how many would have been saved with Vatican support. The Christian nations of Europe embarked on conquests in Africa, North America and South America. In those conquests Africans were enslaved, American tribes were decimated by war, disease, and the purposeful destruction of their civilizations. The world is unable to quantify the number of those non-Christians killed in the expansion of Christianity. "[I]f you examine history you will find that it is the Christians who have brought education to the masses." Christians have brought education to the masses, but in the form of conversion. Education in the eyes of Christian missionaries is the equivalent of preaching the Word of God. During the Enlightenment, education to the masses was championed by John Locke, Rousseau, and Thomas Jefferson. Those men happened to be deists, not Christians. Additionally, Muslim extremists have also brought education to the masses; Communism has brought education to the masses. Christianity is not in great company it seems when bringing education to the masses. Mao and Stalin both educated their subjects. However, you are correct that the foolishness reference in the Old Testament probably does not carry the foolishness as understood today. Revd Carter probably explains best what the scripture line means. But to use the modern day meaning of foolishness (lacking sense, lacking forethought), an argument that asserts only that God does not exist, or that God does exist, are foolish arguments. A conclusion is not an argument. Premises are needed to support the conclusions. My argument for the existence of God depends on my personal experiences, which makes my argument more subjective than objective. In the realm of logic utilized by Plato, Aristotle, and Thomas Aquinas, a subjective argument is weaker than an objective argument. An objective argument includes objective assertions based on facts external from the mind. I can't make an objective argument for the existence of God. That does not preclude others from making an argument for God. Finally, Mr. Robertson, don't patronize the others. It is offensive and unnecessary.

All religions are wrong and belief in them is a sin. There is only one true god - me! All belief in other gods is blasphemy and your life and death will be cursed until you bow down before your one true god i.e. me. So get with the programme - I didn't create you to be morons.

Obviously the person who made this video felt that David (the writer of many psalms) and his opinion reflect the entire mood and opinion of the Bible which it doesn't. The Bible has many writers, and therefore many opinons. Condemn David, not the Bible.

On top of what David Robertson said a while back, it's important not to forget that 2000 Americans said that atheists were the least American, and this in turn was used to imply that atheists were thought to be the least intelligent. I don't know who decided that to be 'American' you had to be supremely intelligent but there's certainly a flaw in the link and even quite a bit of irony! I find the ongoing attacks on Christianity disgusting and offensive, especially since they would not be tolerated against any other religious system in the World. Iíve certainly never heard anybody call an atheist stupid and I find it hard to believe that anyone nowadays would Ė everybody knows that you have to take what is written in the Bible with a pinch of salt and dredging up old quotes isnít going to do any good at all.

The Bible: The immutable word of God. Gen 1:3, 5 And God said "Let there be light. And God called the light 'Day' and the darkness he called 'Night'. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Gen 1:16-19 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also... And the evening and the moring were the fourth day. Someone fucked up. How could night and day be created 3 days before the sun and the moon. And more to the point, how could there be a morning and evening. The Bible is full of this stuff. It's a load of honk. The atheist probably knows more about the Bible than your average religionist. For all you religionists, get yourself a book entitled the "Bible handbook" or better still, watch Monty Python's Life of Brian. It explains everything.

I'll believe in God if a god actually does something. There's too many religions, they're all credible as one another, so what's really the point? The Bible was simply the law & order of the then uncivilized world. Scare tactics kept people in their place. For some reason, it still works today. If there is a god, he/she would prove to this world that there is a cause and way of life. Of course, no god has done this, therefore you will have atheists.

Everyone has their own god, whether they follow an organised religion or are non believers. To me, replace god with a mixture of morals, beliefs and conscience. If there was one god that created us and guided us through life, then why does a new Pope run his church differently to the last? Why do you get priests who abuse children for their own sexual pleasure and then the church defend them? The Bible was written by men, not an unseen god. When someone quotes the Bible, remember that it is just the person's beliefs who wrote the Bible, not God's. When they say "God says" , they mean "I say". Religion is just a means to control the masses. They do this by telling people that if you do not believe what I believe, then you are not part of our society. Darwin did not question the Bible in his theories of evolution, he just observed and made educationed theories as to how animals and plants evolved. When it made more sense and questioned the stories in the Bible, the church attacked him and tried to alienate him from society. Christening babies and sunday schools are there to brain wash the innocent. Why not wait until they are adults so that they can make their own minds up? Education has been the downfall of religion because once you teach children to think for themselves and to question theories and authority, they also question religion. The fool is the one who does not think for himself but allows others to do it for him.

The term athiest is a Christian or religious term. If you do not believe in god, then it is simple, you do not believe in god. To class yourself as an athiest suggests that you have had or do have pre-supposed belief and no longer do. Atheist or atheism is a Biblical term for those who do not see God. So basically, if you're an 'athiest' then aren't you believing in the very fabric of the Bible by choosing to accept God may be there but not believe in him yourself? I know this sounds very odd and some people may understand the angle from which I'm coming from, and some won't. The ones who do are probably slightly more enlightened people than religious people could ever be. We let go of Santa Claus didn't we? Were we not told he was true by our parents? Did they tell us at some point he isn't real?? NO! We came to the realisiation that it was obviously not real; people cannot fly in the sky with reindeer etc etc. So my point is, why can we not do the same with religion? In my opinion the very thought of a flying reindeer is more likely than some of the ludicrously insane events in the Bible.

Sometimes people can get so educated and so far into complicated sciences and things of those concerns, that they forget how all of this world came about. As the human body functions, for example, the cell constructing everything, and all of the organs, blood, parts, and masses of the body, all working together perfectly to help you maintain life. I doubt seriously that this is all the result of random "chance". And even if you think that cells made us, what do you propose made the cells? Atheism isn't the result of lack of knowledge and know-how. It's the result of lack of knowing what is going on around us. Of who designed the body and everything else to work so perfect as it does. If you go to church, you could see how genuine God's grace truly is. In the Pentecost, how people can rapidly speak in different languages and not know what they say, but bilingual poeple can actualy visit from other countries and understand them. How could this be made-up? I will not insult any one who does not believe in God, it is an evil act to do so, for it creates so much more spite in people. I say to you all, peace, and to all atheists, try church. See how everyone rejoices and in certain one's speak in other languages that they don't even understand themselves, please. And please don't insult, for you will not be insulted if you don't insult. If you hate your brother, Christians, then you have not the love of God in your heart. This is in the Bible (I know you know). Amen...

David Robertson, the Church had a lot of power and influence before the great scientific renaissance began. If u really understand anything u will know that back in those times the Church was corrupt. And it is still today. Do I have to point out the hundreds of child abuse cases the Church wants to hide. It was proven in a survey that half of the priests in Ireland had abused a child. Shocking, and religion caused it. Then there was the case in NI when a free Presbyterian got raped by a fellow church member and what did the Church do, they tried to discredit her by saying she had commited adultery even though she hadn't. If that is not covering up and trying to avoid the blame I really don't know what is. I was once a Chrisitian and I know how they brainwash people. I was one of the "lucky" ones. Religion can be compared to a dangerous chemical i.e. repeated or prolonged exposure can cause damage to the human body. I'm 14 and I would like to know ur denomination and age so I can see how corrupt u r. I have nothing to hide, d u?

If that is not covering up and trying to avoid the blame I really don't know what is. I was once a Chrisitian and I know how they brainwash people. I was one of the "lucky" ones. Religion can be compared to a dangerous chemical i.e. repeated or prolonged exposure can cause damage to the human body. I'm 14 and I would like to know ur denomination and age so I can see how corrupt u r. I have nothing to hide, d u?

I'm an atheist and I suffer for it in my school. Religion can blind people just like David Robertson. We have no proof of any divine entity and anything which discredits the church is quickly "buried" by religious fanatics. Earth centre of the universe ring any bells? And looking at today. Because of Earth's religions, there is fighting and a climate of fear.

HOW DARE you tell atheists they are going to Hell Nora whoever you are! Just cos ur so bitter inside that not every1 believes exactly the same thing as you, you go and tell them they're going to Hell. I don't know what I believe in at the moment, but there's one thing I certainly believe, people who think they know everything are arrogant and rude! Let others have their own minds. gaaah.

I am not here to comment on whether there is a god or not, only to say that there are probably many religious people who have done equally "great" things as the people portrayed in the clip.

An atheist is still going to Hell no matter how many folks you know that were maybe worldly "smart". They still are dumb in spirit, which still makes them fools as the Bible says...

What proof is there of god's existance and what proof is there of his non-existance? Atheism is just as religious as Christianity, it is based upon a belief, not facts. My approach is, I don't know if there is a higher intelligence or not... what's there to do about it anyway, live your life the best you can, why follow a stupid book that keeps contradicting itself? Oh and Robertson, as far as I know Hitler was a practicing Christian, not an atheist.

Was there a point to that video? Some atheists did some stuff, thanks for letting us know. Going to say something worth listening to now?

Such foolish arguments!!! All these great minds, yet just like the Bible says (God's inspired word through the Holy Spirit given to men) "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisble attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like the corruptible man - and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of thier hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Romans 1:18-25.
