1. Illegal immigrants are just that.. illegal 2. 100% of calls TALK TO A DOCTOR and are told to go away because it's not important. 3. French copayment help subsidize costs and to ensure that the patient is serious about visiting a doctor. 4. Granted it's not the best balance, but the French gov't just pulled themself out of a recession earlier than the rest of the world.

Healthcare does not belong into private hands, (just like education) the quality will always suffer if one just goes for profit!

7. High taxes are the price to pay for longer lives (+2-3 yrs) and half the US infant mortality. Also the US has 5X the population as France which gives a bit more tax money to play with (the baseline infrastructure cost doesn't increase at the same rate as population, so you can afford to pay less taxes since there are more people).

Here's a fact you haven't heard. In the US, a baby is born at 5 months, breaths once and dies. That baby is counted as a live birth and a death. In most of the rest of the developed world, a baby has to live at least 24 hours before counting as a live birth. Some countries wait 30 days before counting a birth as live. On the other end of the scale, how many French servicemen have died defending the West from Muslim extremism? Hell, more Americans died defending France from the Nazi than Frenchmen

So let's reviev the "facts" presented. 1. Illegal aliens aren't treated. 2. 95% of 911 calls are told to go away. 3. French copay for doctor's office visit is higher than in the US. 4. Deficit of $12-14 billion, would be about $100 billion US. So rationing is on the way. 5. Can you name the last 5 medical advance pioneered in France? 6. I mus thave missed all the stories about wealthy foreign millionaires and heads of state going to France instead of the US when they needed the best care available. 7. Seems the very high French tax rates that pay for this didn't make it into the story.

There will never be a rationing of healthcare. Either the deficit increases or taxs rises, but no goverment in the world that wants to be re-elected would think of rationing healthcare. If millions of dollars in tax money can be used to get bankers out of a disaster that they caused then there is no reason to spend less money on healthcare for all citizens.

So you are arguing that it is better to have a system that most of the population can't afford (because the company is more interested in making profit than treating patients) and will even turn patients out into the street when the money runs out, than to have a system that treats the patient first, then asks questions later?

Most of the population can't afford? Everyone in the US who wants it can afford a high deductible medical plan. You might not be able to get the latest iphone or high def cable TV with 500 channels, but if health insurance is important to you, prioritize. And an insurance company making a profit to pay its workers? Horrors. How dare they!!! You liberals want the same government that makes you wait all day at the DMV to get a simple drivers license to run everything in the country. The same government that builds 6 work stations at the Post Office and only staffs 1.

5. Canada's system is similar AND churns out some of the best research in the world (granted not like the US, but that's inherent in the system that charges too much) 6. The perception is that the more you pay, the better the treatment. Show me statistics that it is better $1/$1. Per treatment it damn well better be for what Americans pay (it said twice as much per person).

Why should a stock broker make more money than a doctor?
