no. they gain credibility by trying to ensure justice for abused children. That it further shows the ridiculous situation of having religions in the 21st century is a bonus

It's become popular as of late, to attack Hitchens and Dawkins (without substance), using religious vocabulary, as if to try and turn the argument around on themselves. Of course, this line of argument doesn't stand up to any more scrutiny the religious beliefs that such people seek to indirectly defend. As for the video, just because it's a populist bandwagon doesn't make it wrong.

mmm I'm loving it. baseless/irrational attacks against people trying to do the right thing can only help to castrate the propagation of religion to future generations. Bring it on I say, thanks to the internet your stupidity will last for generations.

Christianity is based on stories that were given by word of mouth for many, many years - hardly anyone could read or write back then. Stories change, get added to etc. and when finally written down, taken as the absolute truth by the gullible. That's how religions start. Now tell me I should believe it.

What about muslims? They idolise mohammed a paedophile and follow his ways and beliefs!Islam condones paedophilia via bacha bereesh and mufa'khathat.2 fatwa's were ordained by the highest muft's in Turkey and Iran saying a 9 year old girl has the same sexual capacities of a 24 year old woman! This is the 21st century, all religions should be banned!islam is a cult which has been granted religous status in the west!

I think it's a case of one step at a time. Of course although Mohammad was a paedophile, there is no evidence that Muslims are taught to abuse children (to my knowledge) But I agree that religion should be banned although putting that into practice would be a lot more difficult.

According to the bible, Mary was about 13 (14 at the oldest) when she was "visited" by Gabriel. So does that make God a paedophile?

The reason Catholic priests are not allowed to marry is because the C.Church provides a house for the priest - if a priest had a wife and kids there could be a will and the church could lose properties to the priest's children. Yes, it's the money folks. People need to wake up. Religion is a joke.

I find it abhorrent that this criminal is coming to the UK on the taxpayer dime. He clearly had a major hand in covering up and making others cover up the most heinous of crimes. I don't think he'll ever be arrested in a international court, but I can't even imagine how it is that Catholics themselves aren't appalled by the man and aren't calling for his resignation as Pope.

The Bible does not give any indication of Mary's age when she conceived the Lord Jesus. Her conception was by the power of God, the Holy Spirit - not the angel Gabriel, as your comment seems to imply.

Charging the pope for "crimes against humanity" is ridiculous. Charge him for obstruction of justice or a similar charge, that might be realistic. But the inherent comparison to WWII crimes (for which the charge "crimes against humanity was first used") is just inappropriate and polemic.

Since the head of almost every large organisation is responsible for the overall conduct of its employees, the Pope has to answer for the priests in the Catholic church. If he condones/overlooks their crimes (which is precisely what they are), he then becomes as guilty as them.
