Street Slide - Browsing street level imagery

Street Slide - Browsing street level imagery

Street Slide is an upgrade to Bing Maps Streetside, Microsoft's version of Google's Street View. And it looks very cool.

Basically it can zoom out. Listening to the dry, monotone voice and overly confusing and complex description, It couldnt be anyone but Micorosoft. "as perspective as possible, hyper perspective, we leveraged the bubble for this task, we annotate the strip, it exhibits parallax effects as one translates down the street ." (thats 'scrolls' to the rest of us)

This was obviously not aimed at people who require loud music and explosions with everything they watch, but more likely developers and possibly vendors. Unlike Apple, she didn't feel the need to use the word 'magical' before mentioning every feature. By the way in three dimensional navigation, translating is diffferent from scrolling... it is a big-person word, so you might not be familiar with it...

S'funny, I never expected 'loud music and explosions' on my Google maps. I did'nt even mention Apple. Why is it that as soon as a company like Apple (remember YOU brought them up, not me) actually has unparalleled success through vision, simplicity and quality, PC users start whining and crying? is it cause your plastic, grey, dull world is crumbling and you feel scared?

P.s. only a Microsoft lover would correct someone for saying "three dimensional navigation" isn't scrolling....I rest my case

Wait... I have become a prophet for a cause I don't support! I am not a de facto lover or hater of either platform, and own and use both. The guest took a dig at Microsoft for being dry in their presentation. I was taking a dig at Apple for being overly effusive in theirs. Notwithstanding, translating is still different from scrolling, and it isn't love for a hegemonic computer giant that makes me say so; it is my love for words.

Latest comment: To be fair to the guest, "track" is probably a better word than "translate", since they use the words "pan" and "zoom", which are really camera movements.
