Ah yes NOAA, the same folks that bring you wildly inflated hurricane predictions year after year, which do nothing but drive storm related insurance premiums up and up! Credibility=0.

That's right. The ice isn't melting. This isn't open water - it's just that the ice is softer and darker than usual so that the polar bears have to swim through it. But it's definitely still ice.

Any update on the Antarctic ice cover??? Probably not as its grown over 40% in recent years. Worldwide sea ice extent has remained largely consistent since accurate satellite measurements have started in the 70's. Check it out for yourself...google 'the cryosphere today' and you should find a website that has accurate non biased ice measurements taken from the satellite that measures it.
