The cutting of the cards has no effect, because you end up stacking both halves on top of each other. In this way, you get any 10 cards at the bottom, then an X card on top, then 15 cards on top of that, then an X card, then 15 more cards, then an X card, then the 9 remaining cards on the very top. The four-cards-underneath bit is fixed too. So you have a pre-determined order, and the up-down thing is always selects the 6th, 22nd, and 38th cards. Easy peasy.
