The inherent problem with democracy - everyone gets to vote!

The inherent problem with democracy - everyone gets to vote!

Michael Voris argues for a Catholic dictatorship as the way to save civilisation from itself. Although this is posted on BoreMe for its entertainment value, it does highlight the problem with democracy, particularly in an increasingly complex world. Winston Churchill put it very well: The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter.

One word, INQUISITION! Two words DARK AGES! Catholicism is better? I think NOT! Kennedy and Pelosi are Catholics that stand for the opposite of what you promote. And you promote more of this? Get a brain! This nation was founded on CHRISTIANITY, not religion and not democracy. They expected Christians to only vote for Christians.

Protestantism came about half a millenium ago becuase of people like this guy. Yea, what we really need now is a Soviet style top down dictatorship (which is how the Catholic church is set up) to lead us not into temptation. Nothing like some religious true believers to decry peoples' right to vote.

Selfish people also have the right to vote. They may want to defend their own self interest only if they want. Then voting systems measures what is best for the society on average. That is democracy. The other idea is feudalism

This is the most absurd idea I have ever heard. Who is to decide who the virtuous are and will they remain virtuous for the remainder of their life? Let's not forget, power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. If one is a Christian, one surely believes we are here to have a mortal experience with the opportunity of free will. I am positive, there are many people in this world who are not Christian, Muslim, Jewish etc., that will enter the ĎKingdom of Heavení before many Catholics do!!! Isnít the issue that although the foundation of many religions might be perfect, people are far from perfect and never will be in this mortal state?

That's why we don't mix church with state. This guy needs to practice what he preaches when he says that people are only thinking of themselves. You think only Catholics should be able to vote? Because somebody has a different belief than you doesn't mean that you get to be the only group of people that decide the fate of our nation. I agree there are ignorant people out there, but you honestly believe we should take away their rights to vote? That would be no different than me saying that Catholics aren't allowed freedom as speech. But everyone else can speak as they please. Which you are displaying now. I'm agnostic for the record. As if you care or will ever read this anyways.

Hmm... If you substitute "Aryan" for "Catholic" and "Jews" for "ignorant" you get a pretty good 1930's Nazi speech. BTW is "Vortex" another word for "d1ckhead"?

The moralities of many countries rise and fall with the coming and going of generations. We cannot pass our whole lifeís wisdom to our offspring, they have to learn for themselves; you might say thatís why the world is in this financial crisis, the wisdom learnt and legislated by the governments of the 1930ís were forgotten and repealed by the present generation of bankers and governments. Itís as if nothing was learnt by the great depression, because weíre right back to where we started.

Voris is clueless about the content of the Bible and the teaching of Christ. Jesus was extraordinarily clear on the separation of church and state, and his teaching was intended to help people change their attitudes toward the poor and disenfranchised, not to create or support any form of government. Heck, Jesus was even against the "church" of his day. I can't imagine he would like this one any better.

Actually the inherent problem with democracy it that it is a Tyranny of the majority. I didn't watch beyond his initial statement which was an error. He's an idiot.

Millions burnt at the stake for upsetting the church - millions killed on direct order of the popes in the crusades. Ownership of great wealth accumulated from the blood of the poor - qualifies the catholic church to teach the World how to live. Its a shame the Romans could not finish them off and leave them to defile children today.

It is your RIGHT to spout this hate filled bile that is brought about by such Democracy! I agree with Colin, be it in a different guise, this is the self same bigoted rhetoric that religeon is now emulating (although it has for many more years) the now unquestionably undesreable right wing politics of the 1930's - 40's
