Motorcycle hits deer at 85 mph

Motorcycle hits deer at 85 mph

Biker's story: "I did not crash, but the bike was totalled. It literally jumped right in front of me (about 10 feet at most) and I had no time to react! While editing this vid, the deer was only on cam for 6 frames which is 6/30 or 1/5 of a sec!
I think the momentum from accelerating out of the corner is what saved me, along with the fact that I hit it while it was still in mid-air. There were many factors that kept me on 2 wheels and I can't say whether I was lucky because I didn't die or unlucky it even happened."

Your "hit" brought back memories of my "hit" and kill. Two big dogs came out of a farmers driveway. The German shepherd looked me in the eye and we both knew one or both of us were going to die. He hit the front wheel and went under the entire bike. He was dead on impact, I never so much as had to fight to maintain balance. He had a buckled red collar which was off his neck and laying about 30 feet from impact-- still buckled. My worse fear was the farmer that came up behind me shaking a garden hoe and saying over and over, "You killed my dog, you killed my dog." I was still sitting on the bike, a 1972 GT 750 Suzuki 3 cylinder two stroke. I never acknowledged the farmer was even there. The only damage to the bike was the front wheel collapsed the fork so hard that the top of the fender rubbed the tire. There are deer by the many where The dog's hair and poop were washed off the bottom of the bike for at least a year. I lived and I might have been going faster if I was on an unfamiliar road where I didn't know the habits of deer. Keep your self and your bike between the ditches and hope you are not going to quit riding!!?? What ever you did kept you from becoming a statistic!

At lease the English know that "the Dear" still makes sense in this context - a common truncation of "the dear thing" or the "poor dear" for example. I appreciate that Americans have trouble using the English Language properly - we understand and accept this - but they're sure not the right ones to be lecturing a Brit on correct usage - in just the way they're not the right ones to be telling someone else how to run a country.

Make up your mind. Are you english or a brit? "the Dear" is fine when used in the right context. It wasnt there (or should i use their?). As for telling others how to run their country, how long did ye try running other countries and walking all over their peoples?

'Totaled' refers to the cost of repairs being more than the value of the machine, not whether it can still be used. It's an insurance term meaning they will pay you the total value of the machine rather than the cost of repair.
