Former NOTW editor speaks unbelievably honestly on Australian TV - (1 of 2)

(6:37) A visibly stressed Paul McMullen, former features editor at The News of the World, the journalist who admitted phone hacking to Hugh Grant, the journalist who was described by Steve Coogan as morally bankrupt and a PR disaster for the tabloids - gives an amazingly honest and detailed account on what went on in NOTW. Tales include how he once paid 30,000 pounds cash, in two briefcases, to secure a story. Now that he's spilled the beans, he probably hopes he's safe, as there's no point in knocking him off.

There's a man who appears not to be taking his situation too seriously. He spent most of the interview using misdirection, sidetracking and outright finger pointing to make viewers look at everyone but him. Something I don't understand is how he can't distinguish between the private and public lives of other humans, whether they are celebrities or not and smirking about breaking the law or simply overstepping the bounds of decency. His moral compass is badly screwed up.

Explain is detail how this "misdirection" was done, also mention; once again... in detail how he sidetracked, to what avail his sidetracking had any relevance on the subject matter.... Oh what? you can't? Not really surprised to be fair, you're just jumping on a bandwagon and spouting rhetoric. This man behavior I do NOT condone, but to single him out like he's the sole person in command of such heinous crimes is utterly ludicrous. Yes he's a low life piece of sh!t, he's an ex tabloid journalist, they all are. But, if you want to blame someone, you'll need to look a LOT higher up the food chain and I don't mean the editor, I mean the Australian.

The misdirection I referred to are his references to other people within the NOTW management condoning his (and others') actions and knowingly allowing him (on behalf of the paper) to part with substantial sums of money for the information they gave. To my mind, he is trying to divert attention from himself, therefore 'misdirection'. The sidetracking issue? What does his comment about locating Kylie Minogue's rented flat & Hugh Grant owning money for beer have to do with anything within the context of the interview? Thanks a load for agreeing that this man is not a paragon of virtue and stating the obvious, that Murdoch should be shouldering his share of the blame. Bloody decent of you. Oh, and since Paul McMullen is the subject of the interview, I felt it only fair to spout my 'rhetoric' (thinly veiled as a genuine opinion) about him since the interviewer isn't a current topic, as far as I'm aware.

I agree. He has tried to miss direct in ALL 3 interviews i have seen. Ragging on Hugh Grant because he got one over on him (massive respect to Mr. Grant for that). Attacking Steve Coogan also. He keeps using the "you make $5 million a movie" line in each interview too. so what? thats their business. Good on them. Hes trying to deflect blame. and why is he wearing the same 80's outfit in all interviews? Funniest part is where he says he has been reluctant to mention he worked for NOTW this week. because of all the anger, so, why is he on TV everyday?

Utter coke-head, he may even have AIDS, and, he's had the same suit on for all of the interviews I've seen him in. What a twisted kunt, he's worse than Wulfrune in the social pariah club.

Can I suggest that nobody buys a Murdoch paper, film or TV product...ever? Last paper I bought was in the 1980s at which point I realised that Murdoch was conniving in UK politics which had nothing to do with him. I also don't have SKY. I've also recently found out that he owns 20th Century Fox (or whatever they are called these days) so won't be watching any of those films, or buying any of those videos. The only way these things will get cleaned up is if you hit them in the wallet...HARD! Personally, I'd like Murdoch out of the British media completely.
