Solar Roadways, on route to manufacturing

Solar Roadways, on route to manufacturing

(4:52) Solar Roadways is a smart modular paving system of solar panels that pay for themselves from the electricity they generate. This crowdfunded project is well on its way to mass manufacturing. Support at: indiegogo.com/projects/solar-roadways

Did you forget to wear your tinfoil hat?

The problem is that you think there is a conspiracy in everything even when there isn't.

a project so ambitious it's almost borderline idiotic.

I hope they get it going and make something of it.

Isn't capitalism wonderful. I hope these guys get the factories they need and become billionairres overnight. Did you click on the link and donate your $10,000 to the cause?

Just wondering who their customers will be because it's not going to be the general public. Only the federal, state, and local governments will be interested in their products with a couple exceptions for a few wealthy private people.

So you socialists are probably going to hate these inventors when they make it big. If they accept investors or do an IPO and those investors get rich, you're going to hate them too.

Next the environmentalists will complain when they want to chop down trees nearby the roads so the light can hit the solar panels.

What about all the fossil fuel they will need to create their products and the constant maintenance required. No matter what, you will always complain.

Anyway, solar technology isn't new and has been available for decades. There is no reason why you have to be able to drive on your solar panels. They can be in a desert like Nevada and the electricity piped in through wires. You can still put pipes below the surface of a current road to melt snow. Several people in Minnesota have this technology in their driveways so they don't need to shovel the snow.

It's their way to get the initial investment capital without surrendering any ownership in their business. They will own the business 100% after it's all done. Great model. They will sell their product and that's when the profits will come in. The owners have the potential to become filthy rich.

I don't doubt that they received some government funding. This is the problem when the government does more than just the basic defense of the country and create laws and enforces those laws. The government keeps giving away my tax dollars to stupid projects and farmers to not grow peanuts.

so you think this project is stupid whilst i think it's bordeline idiotic (meaning it's also borderline genius). I see no problem here; i see only a good R&D investment from the government.

That is not what I said. I suggest you go back and re-read some of my previous posts. I also suggest you take a reading comprehension course like I suggested many times before.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I said this was a great model and hope these people get rich in this capitalistic venture. What part of that did I manipulate you into thinking I thought it was a stupid idea?

Even if the government paid money into the research and development of the product, that is called a grant. You do not have to pay a grant back. So once your business becomes profitable, you only pay the government the same tax dollars as any other capitalistic company including those that did not receive government subsidies.

it's obvious that you're unwilling to admit defeat and that your intention is to keep on trolling.

And since i'm not feeling verbally abusive today i will end this conversation here.

Sorry , maybe next time.

*Reality is any 'huge' controlling cooperations willl test the idea privately to see if it's worthy first. Then rob these people of their concept and probably produce a superior product that would not infringe on any patents these folk have.

R&D.

Reproduce and Deplicate.......

Rip-off and Destroy....

Or produce these at 1-10 the size and cover every ugly man made structure.

Latest comment:

If it doesn't infringe on their patents then everyone has the right to make it. Perhaps they should write the patents with more detail so copying their idea would infringe.

The problem here is that the patent is supposed to be detailed enough so anyone can create the product after reading the patent; however, what actually happens after the lawyers get ahold of it is they make the patent as generic and broad as possible. This way nobody can create the product and they can claim things infringe when they technically do not. Patent reform is clearly needed here to avoid these problems.

I agree with the idea of protection of intellectual property but the current patent system is completely flawed with too many holes and costs. It can cost you millions to defend a patent so they become useless for small businesses with great ideas.
