First man-made biological leaf that works just like a plant

First man-made biological leaf that works just like a plant

(2:54) RCA graduate Julian Melchiorri has developed a synthetic biological leaf that absorbs water and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen, just like a plant. As well as helping oxygenate the air on Earth, these leaves could also help in space as plants don't grow in zero gravity.

Yes, excellent. Now all of our global warming problems are over.

These devices will scrub all our CO2 and make O2 out of it. No more greenhouse gasses to kill all known life in our universe. /end sarcasm

When a plant performs this process, it grows larger because it absorbs the carbon into its body. Did anyone say where all the left-over carbon goes with this synthetic version? Does it leave a pile of carbon dust on the ground?

I'm curious. Where do you think the carbon goes when using this synthetic plant?

Well obviously It must be retained by the "leaf", which means that the leaf has a limited life .One should of course calculate how much co2 is expended in the production of this leaf, and subtract the co2 it absorbs during its lifetime, and when (as i suspect ) the net total is positve, one should dismiss it as a useless marketing gimmick. But I guess greenies more concerned with their public image wont see it in that light,.Its proof that they are "saving the planet"

it's a kid who made a stupid fu*king leaf. Don't be a cU*t about it.

The only reason why we're even talking about climate change is because that is what is desired by the elites. If it exists there is sureley a very efficient and viable solution to it, but the global elites won't implement it because it's not in their best interest. Same as with energy, or hunger, or healt, or peace or war.

It's all about the power to make the rules. Right now they're thinking about TPP type of stuff, and this is something that we know about.

This type of climate change "debate" we're doing here like a bunch o idiots almost every day is only meant to divide us.

climate change, religion, politics, nationality, abortions, sexuality, etc.

bread and circus, divide and conquer.

Everybody seems to know that except you and your imbecilic friend.

If there is or if there isn't who gives a fu*k? they're going to do whatever they want anyway. If they want to drive the message that there is climate change, then they will finance those voices with the fu*king money they print at will. If they want to do the opposite they will. If they want us to finance both points of view they will do it just to watch us SQUABBLE over it so we can leave them in peace over the IMPORTANT STUFF.

those fu*king lizard people man... i tell ya...

Actually, what it has reduced to is useless marketing gimmicks, selling a "You Are Green" image to gullable idiots, with no benefit whatsoever. But hey, I only comment on the idiocy of the "Big Green Sell", and the way their imbecilic little acolytes buy into it, because they think they are "enlightened". I do wish people would study a little history. Ps thanks for acknowledging that guest1234567890 and i are different people.

I didn't consider the energy required to create the leaf so that would probably require the production of CO2. Even if you use solar power for the energy source, you still have other factors such as the delivery of raw materials comes by train, plane, or truck, and those will produce CO2.

The amount of carbon that is extracted from the air from each leaf will be so minimal that, as you stated, will probably have a net positive CO2.

I would like to see some specifications on this technology such as where the scrubbed carbon goes and how much CO2 gets converted to O2 each day per square meter in ideal sunlight situations and what is the lifespan of the product. How much does it cost to produce one square meter and what is the expected retail price of it. Have these claims been tested by an independent company to verify it really works? What is the patent number, if any, so I can look it up to see how it works?

You can rest assured that it wont be cheap, but no worries, its a product aimed at those who need a little lessening of the grief for the planet that they cause as they fly first class to their holiday destination. Think of it as buying an indulgence.

Could also be effectively marketed to AGW alarmists like WalterEgo. They could make billions from the AGW doomsday/apocalypse scare strategy.

You know that video really goes out of the way to not state what the byproducts for the reaction are (oher than liberating o2). in order to not accumulate in the product it has to be gaseous, in which case its probably methane. That would be truly ironic if it is. Methane reacts with o2 in the atmosphere to produce co2 and h2o.

Just like you and Sat (a.k.a. SS.ATM).

About us never arguing, I did disagree with originalmad the other day about the planet not warming means we are in a cooling phase. It could be true but not necessarily.
