It's not uncommon for reformed drug addicts to believe in God - take Dubya for instance: cocaine and alcohol to evangelism.

Maybe there's some neuroscience to be done there on any correlation of the neural pathways for religious devotion and addiction - anecdotally at least it would seem to make sense.

PARK LIFE!!!

Stephen Fry: "Your life will simpler, purer, cleaner [if you don't believe in a God]". I agree. Religious parables can be interesting as moral tales, but so can Aesops Fables and the works of David Mitchell - Cloud Atlas is a magnum opus of inspection of the human condition.

Oh Russell, "200 physical parameters" - yes, there is an incredible set of amazing co-incidences which led to life (and us). But we don't know about any other universes where there is no-one (and hence no-one there to say "well, that didn't work out for us did it?") and what about the billions or trillions of other planets where life has failed to evolve because the circumstances are wrong? Put Russell Brand there (please, someone) and let him talk about co-incidences. The mere fact that we are alive to see life in all its amazing majesty shows that it must have come about however inprobable that may have been, but that's totally circular - and doesn't mean that there's a God any more than I am teapot (I'm not, by the way)

"Science is an attempt to explain the unknowable"?!

Perhaps a little less talking and a little more thinking might help you Mr Brand.

Actually, that applies to much else that you've rambled on about in the past - like not voting because politicians are crap f'rinstance.

Smart man Russell. He's only saying he believes in God because he wants to sell more books in America.

I liked Brand then he went all "evangelical" but i stuck with he's rants as i am all for shaking things and making people questioning things.

Sadly i didnt know he believed in a Super Being. Which in my mind shows you to be very very stupid and therefore I can now not take anything he puts forward as worth considering as I now will always be thinking that bloke's a idiot nutter!

Rock on Stephen, Russel for gods sake (excuse pun) shut-up

Oh dear. I had been avoiding Brand for some time but thought this might be interesting. His "universal consciousness," the need for "spirituality" whatever that may be, his adopted "unconventionality&q uot; etc are suitable for a young teenager. I'll check back in ten years.

It's a pity when someone says something we disagree with, it tends to taint everything else they say, even though we would all agree that nobody is right all the time.

It happened to me with Ron Paul. Before I really understood how bad an idea Libertarianism is, I quite liked a lot of things he was saying, particularly about foreign policy and drugs. Then I found out he is a Creationist, and now I can't take him seriously.

Always highly amusing to read the comments on religious posts. In terms of sanctimonious, proselytizing and hubristic attitudes... the atheists usually just about beat the Christians, but it's often a close run thing.

Thanks you so much Russell. You have finally confirmed for me what I have been trying convince anyone prepared to listen for many months. You really are a completer twat aren't you? Though I concede that some of your anti-capitalist rants, even given their self publicizing and juvenile simplicity have contained a grain of truth, they may have been useful for any 5th former approaching politics for the first time as an interest. But this latest drivel? Give us all a break. You're not funny, you can't act and you are not clever. Time to try something else mefhinks. Have you tried working for a living yet?

When he brought out "My booky wook" it showed me that he has no respect or interest in anyone who isn't Russel Brand, except as a source of money.

Thanks Russel, spot on.. As Churchill once said, "never give up".. don't be put down by the predictably negative reponses There are millions of people out here who agree with you 100 per cent and are fed up with being treated as imbeciles because they refuse to swallow withour demur the impossible co-incidence theory of the random big bang miracle.

If you still believe in god despite all the evidence to the contrary, if you really think that all the evidence is wrong and you believe something that has absolutely no credible evidence, then you really shouldn’t be surprised when some people treat you as an imbecile!

Oh My Days!!!

"What would Stephen Fry say to God" 98%

Russell Brand's brainwashed contradictory stance, embracing superior powers 28%

Speaks Volumes, doesn't it?

He refuses to believe that the universe could have been made by the Big Bang because of the very fine margins needed to make it happen are almost improbable (yet possible). Instead he dismisses all logic and will belive in an invisible being that is everywhere watching everyone all the time. This God loves you but if you don't belive in him and bow down following every order; you will burn in an eternal pit of hell (Sounds like a nice fella this god; disciples? slaves more like). For 'god sake' Brand (Pardon the little joke), take your mouth out of gear and engage the one in your brain. I could go on about the many contradictions but I'm not here to drone on, I've always wondered why in aincient biblical pictures, Eve has a belly button. What's that all about if she was mad from Adams rib.

Oh well, as previously said, he must be trying to break into the hearts of Americans by going along with this claptrap, or he actually is one of god sheep - Shame really.

Imagine the damage this fella could do with his gob, if he was brainwashed by ISIS instead of Catholism... dangerous thing is religion.
