See how fast NASA's New Horizons space probe moves

(0:05) NASA's New Horizons space probe that recently flew by Pluto, travels at 36,000 mph. Google employee Clay Bavor created this animation showing what you'd see from the window of a Boeing 747 (550 mph), an SR-71 Blackbird (2,700 mph) and the New Horizons space probe (36,000 mph).

36,000 mph is like flying from San Francisco to New York in 5 minutes.

That is fast, but not compared to the speed of light. That's like flying around the equator 7 times in 1 second.
