Penn is a genius. If he ran for president, I would vote for him.

You'd vote for a man who is undecided about global warming and makes a living tricking people?

OK.

I didn't hear him say anything about being undecided about global warming. Even if he did, that would be better than Trump who denies the planet is warming.

Yes he is a magician but have you ever watched one of his shows? He's more like a comedian. Sometimes they show you how the trick is done so you can get a good laugh. Would I rather have a magician as a president or a lawyer that knows how to break the laws and skate by on technicalities.

Sure but the benchmark of a good president is not 'Better than Trump', or we'd all be voting Harambe.

I don't think a comedian is any better than a magician. How about a politician instead?

Anybody can become a politician. We had Ronald Reagan who was an actor as one of Presidents and was pretty good at it too. Don't discount someone's political knowledge because of their current career choice. I would think Penn would make a better President than Hillary who has a degree in politics.

I know the USA has more of a celebrity obsession than other countries, so I suppose I'm not shocked. Personally, I don't think magic or comedy stand you in good stead for a presidency (other than tricking people or playing to a crowd), and doubts on global warming make it even more dubious, but hey, mercifully I'm not a American citizen.

If you're in the UK, you have the biggest celebrity born into her role as your main leader.

Regarding Penn, like I said, it doesn't matter what his career is. You need to listen to what his libertarian views are and it really makes sense. Would you put a gun to someone's head to build a library?

Completely pointless analogy. There is no culture of celebrity in the UK because as a rule we don't have celebrities running for electable public office. A culture which is obsessed with celebrity is obviously different from a dominant culture that necessarily happens to have a famous figurehead. Besides, the Queen is a-political. She isn't a TV personality whose previous appearances can encourage people to vote for her - Trump, Reagan, Schwarzenegger, Shirley Temple, and now apparently Penn would all tick that box. We prefer politicians who started off with that interest rather than people who banded their name about and used their fame to get positions of power.
