Google is having the last laugh.  You make them unbundle their software and give them a fine.  Then Google now charges for those apps and it's up to $40 per device depending on the EU country and device.  Hahahaha.

The EU is so stupid to consider Google a monopoly.  You can buy an iPhone with iOS and you can install whatever 3rd party apps you want to replace Chrome if you want.  At least it comes with a browser as a default for those people not wanting or knowing how to install default things. You can even install apps that are not within the Google Play store if you want.  Even iOS doesn't allow you to do that.

If Google were so happy with the deal they would stop bundling software with the phones worldwide and make everyone pay the 40 bucks.

They won't do that because $40 is a poor consolation prize compared the power of owning so much customer data.

Explain to me how both Microsoft and Apple bundle browsers in their operating systems and get away with that in the EU.  Apparently Android is the only Monopoly but I cannot remove Edge or Internet Explorer on my PC and cannot remove Safari from my iPhone.  Hopefully the EU will go after both of those next and get more billions in fines.

Do you really want me to explain?  Or have you already decided it's unfair?  It's fairly simple but if it's the latter, I won't waste my time.

No thanks. It was rhetorical.

Yeah I figured as much.  It's the audience thing again right?

If you ever get interested, look up the legal distinction between bundling and tying, and the precedents of EU fines against Microsoft etc.
