A nuclear attack is not going to happen out of the blue. North Korea is not going to randomly with no warning, lob a nuclear missile to North England. Just like WW2 didn’t just randomly happen - there was a build up.

The most likely scenario for a nuclear attack is from a weapon smuggled into the centre of a city - then BOOM! Or a dirty bomb that kills not many people but makes the city uninhabitable for decades. Trident is useless against those attacks.

I think we should scrap Trident, and use much of the money saved on improved cyber security, improved intelligence, and defences against other modern threats - like how to safeguard an oil tanker through dangerous waters, or rescuing people from extreme natural disasters.

Since we won’t be leaving the EU (IMO), we could propose that the French nuclear deterrent becomes the EU’s nuclear deterrent, and all EU member states chip in to pay for it. It would save the French loads of money, and give all EU member states a nuclear defence at relatively low cost.

If you believe nuclear weapons are anything but a deterrent and should be used then you are a moron. Better my offspring speak Russian, Chinese, Arabic or god forbid Trump than never have the opportunity to speak at all

Can anyone think of a plausible scenario in which a UK pm would use a nuke? I genuinely can not think of one.
