Don't know which is worse... treating farmyard animals like fodder for entertainment or treating them like house pets.

Sorry - but bullfighting is absolutely monstrous. Needs to be outlawed.

I bet you have never seen it.  It's easy to condemn parts of other people's culture isn't it?  I hope you're not a meat-eater.

I have repeatedly seen bull fighting. It is barbaric.

Actually I have as I lived in Spain for a period.

The whole program of events is built to infuriate and then weaken the bull before it is put to the sword. This last phase can be dreadful as I have seen the rejoneador make a real hash of killing the bull and it is left twitching on the earth. I suggest that you go and witness a bullfight for yourself before attempting to become so sanctimonious .

I went to Spain as a vegetarian and my hosts set me up with a surprise bull fight.  I am so thankful I went and didn't allow my preconceptions to cloud my views.  I had imagined it was just pure barbaric violence.  It is artful, graceful, but yes moments are difficult to watch.  We also watched the young steers enter the arena, literally dozens of them and not a single one was hurt.  There is a whole culture and artform around it.  The final estoca is designed to kill the bull as quickly and painlessly as possible and fighters get booed for anything less.  You would know that if you had been.

I stayed in Spain for several years, stayed vegetarian for the duration, but ended up going to one of the largest corrida festivals in Spain during my time there.  At that festival, they killed perhaps a dozen animals in the entire festival all of which live very comfortable lives to improve their condition at the corrida.

Meanwhile (the reason I went veggie), up to a million pigs are bled to death in the UK EVERY DAY to fill your bacon sarnies.  No spectators begging for a quick and humane death, no art, no acceptable living conditions.  But oh no lets complain about the Spaniards slaughtering bulls.  It's appalling hypocrisy and arrogance.

A tiny fraction of Spanish still attend corridas so forgive me for calling BULLSHIT when 100% of the people against it on this page claim to have personal experience and reveal nothing that's not on Wikipedia.

Seriously, go and watch one, suspend your judgment and stop exporting your morality.  That is the epitome of sancitmoniousness.

Wow..... treatment of animals maybe?  Or don't pigs count?  Can't believe I have to spell that out to you!  Talk about inconsistent.

Nah! Pigs don't count here as this post concerns barbaric bullfighting practices. Go and start your piggy posts elsewhere! Only to be expected from a girly vegan I guess!

LOL thanks you've just blown your argument out of the water.  You don't give a crap about animal cruelty if it benefits you.  You only want to ban it when its someone elses culture.

Bullfighting is way less barbaric than pork production. Period.

I bet you're a smug keyboard warrior. It's easy to condemn other people's posts isn't it? I hope you don't have any inconsistencies in your own moral framework.

Don't get so triggered.  Condemning a post is different to condemning parts of a culture that you know nothing about.  If you spot inconsistencies in my moral framework you are welcome to point them out, as I will yours.

With something as barbaric as bullfighting, you don't get to hide behind the 'It's part of my cutlture'  excuse.

Don't you?  I hadn't realised I was speaking to a captain of the World Police.  I'd better stand down.  What you have decided is clearly the benchmark for everyone on the planet, therefore perhaps in our nice safe Western countries, we can decide what parts of other cultures are barbaric to our sensibilities and demand that they are outlawed.

What an idotic comment. When people have nothing to say, they move to sarcasm. I guess I know more about bull fighting than you do. And yes, it is barbaric.

When people have nothing to say, they resort to insults and abuse.  I can tell you know precisely zip about bullfighting and you sure as hell weren't born in Spain.  You can try to push your morals onto the rest of the world like the White Western Saviour you would like to be, but the rest of us accept that we have no right to control what other cultures do just because it offends us.

Now THAT is a stupid remark.

I believe that men landed on the moon, but I don't understand as much about it as the people that actually did it and experienced it themselves.

Seeing or experiencing something directly gives you a better understanding of what it is you are judging.

Perhaps you're someone that trawls Amazon and leaves angry reviews about products you've never used.
