Time lapse lava flows on Hawaii

This is Pahoehoe lava, a type of lava with a smooth, billowy, undulating, or ropy surface. The flows are speeded up; 6 hours recorded on 6 minutes of tape, then compressed to a little over a minute. The sound on this video is not compressed; it was sliced from another segment of lava video but kept at normal speed. Video shot & edited by UHH Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes (CSAV). www.hilo.hawaii.edu/~csav/
